Snuneymuxw First Nation
Multi-Use Building
The Snuneymuxw are a vibrant First Nation of the Coast Salish People, located in the centre of Coast Salish territory on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and the Fraser River.
Situated in the centre of the community, the SFN Multi Use Building was designed with input from the Chief, Council and community residents.
The centre is a welcoming, safe space for youth and a gathering place that further promotes Snuneymuxw culture and history. The building includes a multi-purpose room for community functions, a gymnasium, a commercial kitchen and a new space for the Tuytaxun General Store.
The 14,650 square foot facility features a sleek material pallet of concrete, metal and the warmth of cedar to draw users into their celebrated, shared community space. A 20 stall parkade lies below the gymnasium.
