With over 27 years of experience, he has led a wide range of award-winning projects that have established dHKa's reputation for exceptional design. Working closely with both the Nanaimo and Victoria offices, he enjoys the Malahat on his motorcycle when the weather is good.

Glenn Hill, Principal

Glenn moved to the island from Vancouver in 2010 and joined dHK in 2014 to lead the Nanaimo office. He brings an enthusiastic and inclusive leadership style to his work and finds great reward in collaborating with clients and building strong relationships. Glenn enjoys technical climbs and gravity fed descents on his mountain bike and family ski days on Mt Washington.

    Responsibilities
    • Support senior architects and projects across both offices (no travel necessary)
    • Coordinate and track budgets, staffing, work plans and progress
    • Assist in the creation and submission of proposals, fee letters, and architectural contracts
    • Building permit and development permit application coordination
    • Establish and maintain project file structure
    • Communicate with clients, consultants, builders, municipalities
    • Construction phase document coordination including: RFI distribution and tracking; shop drawing coordination; site instructions, change orders, progress claims
    • Work independently with minimal supervision

    • Produce design and construction documentation and specifications
    • Work with minimal supervision both independently and as part of a team, often balancing multiple projects
    • Contract administration: Coordinate and review shop drawings and submittals, prepare site instructions, respond to RFI’s, administer change orders and perform field reviews
    • Coordinate/communicate directly with clients, consultants and City officials
    • Maintain and organize project records and filing consistent with office standards

    Responsibilities:
    • Lead designer and project manager for multiple concurrent projects, working both independently and heading up small internal teams
    • Translate Client/owner objectives into architectural design, continually tracking and updating project metrics.
    • Maintain existing client relationships and help build new ones
    • Responsible for the complete integration of all building systems and technical requirement with the architectural design
    • Establish project schedules and milestones and then deliver work on time and budget
    • Direct, organize, mentor, and inspire junior staff
    • Make presentations to clients, panels, community groups, and councils
    • Contract administration: Manage and coordinate shop drawings and submittal review, prepare site instructions, respond to RFI’s, administer change orders and perform field reviews
