Sheffield Place
Working with the contours of the steep site, the Sheffield Place residence is a home integrated into the edge. Set below the street level, the home respectively connects the street with a view of the ocean and mountains beyond. The layered floor planes and flat roofs extend horizontally out of the earth to engage with the stunning views of the Georgia Strait.
The home is a complex play of material textures ranging from local basalt stone, stamped concrete, pine soffit and longboard siding in dark cherry, to the soft play of light as it is carried down into the living spaces through translucent and transparent glass to play across the walls and surfaces within.
